|  Sponsor | CastorQuinn | Jan 20, 1:35pm | I think Oblivion is deservedly GotY, not just because it looks unreal, has free-flowing gameplay in a large, non-linear game world, but because the makers deliberately left the thing moddable by the community.
I don't like the levelling system in the original, so I run Oblivion with Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul and the AF Levelling Mod plugged in, which gives me less stat-maxing and number crunching and more fluid, progressive play. I also slow down the levelling to extend gameplay. And I run a bunch of visual mods and content packs as well, but they are just to pretty the place up that little bit more.
Gameplay is really smooth, apart from combat involving allies, where you are just as likely to kill a team mate as an enemy. Replayability is high, because you simply can't do everything in the one play through. The huge number of side quests are entertaining and varied. All character options work, from buff tank to physically-weak wizard. Thief quests are a real test of skill and stealth.
Yeah, they pretty much nailed it with Oblivion I think. |
